Esther Kim Varet Launches “It’s My Flag” American Flag Necklace Sweepstakes
Innovative July 4th-Themed Initiative Blends Patriotic Celebration with Creative Fundraising and Campaign Promotion
Tustin, CA – Esther Kim Varet, leading Democratic candidate for California’s 40th Congressional District, today announced the launch of the “It’s My Flag” 🇺🇲 Necklace Sweepstakes as a bold new campaign publicity and fundraising initiative.
Launched just ahead of Independence Day, the sweepstakes will give two supporters a chance to win a one-of-a-kind “It’s My Flag” necklace – personally designed by Esther – as part of the campaign’s ongoing commitment to creative outreach and as a push to take back the American flag from far-right MAGA extremists.
Each necklace directly benefits a “mom and pop” immigrant-owned small business in CA-40.
“As a first-generation immigrant and fellow small business owner in Orange County, I treasure the flag and all it represents – freedom, democracy, opportunity. I’ve been disappointed that MAGA has tried to hijack this important icon that belongs to all citizens,” says Esther Kim Varet. “So MAGA — listen up: it's my flag too — it's our flag! I’m excited to celebrate our patriotic take-back with this fun July 4th giveaway promotion.”
Entering is simple: supporters can visit estherkimvaret.com/itsmyflag to either donate any amount to the campaign or submit a free online entry form – no purchase or donation is required to enter. The “It’s My Flag” necklace sweepstakes runs through June 30, 2025 (at 10pm California Time), and is open to U.S. citizens and residents (excluding RI).
At 6pm California Time on July 1st, Esther will host a live video event on her Instagram account @estherkimvaret to announce the two lucky randomly-selected winners.
Esther Kim Varet's campaign has already attracted attention for its outside-the-box tactics – from producing an AI-generated TV ad that garnered national attention for its ingenuity (earning two spotlights on CNN and public accolades from political leaders including Rep. Jasmine Crockett and Mark Cuban). The campaign's July 4th-themed "It's My Flag" necklace giveaway continues that trend by engaging voters in a fun and patriotic way.
This first-of-its-kind sweepstakes underscores Esther Kim Varet’s reputation for running a dynamic, forward-thinking campaign. By fusing patriotism with personal creativity and grassroots engagement, Esther Kim Varet for Congress continues to break the mold of traditional Congressional campaigning. Supporters and interested members of the public can find full details and enter the sweepstakes at estherkimvaret.com/itsmyflag.
Esther Kim Varet’s campaign will be doing a social media-driven giveaway promotion every few months. Near the end of September (Q3), Kim Varet will be giving away an artwork by an American child of immigrants.
This sweepstakes is sponsored by Esther Kim Varet for Congress, P.O. Box 1374, Tustin, CA 92781. No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary to enter or win. Void where prohibited. Odds of winning depend on the number of entries received. Deadline for entry: 10 pm PT, 6/30/25. Two winners will receive a prize consisting of a flag necklace, approx. prize value $2,026. Subject to Official Rules (at estherkimvaret.com/itsmyflag), including restrictions on eligibility.

California’s 40th is a Congressional District representing portions of Orange County, Riverside County, and San Bernardino County in Southern California. CA-40’s constituents voted for Joe Biden over Donald Trump in 2020. House Majority PAC lists CA-40 as a top target, the DCCC lists CA-40 as a “District in Play”, and the Cook Political Report Partisan Voter Index (PVI) ranks the district as one of the 10 most vulnerable House seats with a Republican incumbent in the nation. Esther Kim Varet raised over $1 million in Q1 2025, outpacing the combined Democratic field by over 2.5x.
Incumbent Republican Young Kim’s support for MAGA policies, including a federal ban on abortion even in cases of rape and incest, support of the GOP budget bill that would strip 40,000+ of her constituents from Medicaid, blocking legislation to lower the cost of prescription drugs, and rejection of common sense gun safety, have made Kim extremely vulnerable. In contrast, Esther Kim Varet will always vote to protect women’s right to choose, provide access to healthcare, lower prescription drug costs, and support responsible gun safety.
CA-40 includes the cities of Yorba Linda, Anaheim Hills, Orange, Chino Hills, Tustin, Mission Viejo, Aliso Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, Laguna Hills, Laguna Woods, Villa Park, Lake Forest, the unincorporated communities of North Tustin and Coto de Caza, and parts of Brea and Corona.
